Zhejiang-Edinburgh Institute (ZJE Institute) is a joint institute established by Zhejiang University and University of Edinburgh (http://zje.intl.zju.edu.cn/en). Both universities are listed among the top universities in the world (UoE: 18 [QS], 29 [THE], 32 [ARWU]. ZJU: 68 [QS], 67 [ARWU], 101 [THE])
The Leptihn Group at the ZJE institute is looking for postdoctoral fellows who are interested in in vitro biochemistry and/ or biophysics of membrane proteins. We investigate how proteins of secretion systems form macromolecular complexes after their insertion into the membrane. Such processes could be used for clinical therapies. Aside from more traditional molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, we use high-resolution optical microscopy and spectroscopy (TIRF and FCS) as well as electrical recordings (single channel recordings in artificial membrane systems, including Droplet-Interface-Bilayers, DIBs).
The ZJE institute is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from qualified individuals of all ethnic background and from all nationalities.
Qualifications
We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. degree in the field of life science or medical research. Prior experience in biochemistry or biophysics is an advantage. Appointments are initially for two years starting in 2019 with a possible two-year extension. Postdoctoral fellows will receive an annual salary of $45,000 (300,000 RMB) plus full social and medical benefits. Zhejiang University also provides housing arrangements and children’s education benefits for postdoctoral scientists. Please be aware that the cost of living in Haining, where the International Campus is based, is comparably low.
Application
For consideration, please send a motivation / cover letter, your CV and the contacts of three recommendation letters as electronic PDF files to Prof. Leptihn.
